Position: part-time/contract Furniture Designer
Furniture design is a field where function and fashion collide. STRASSER’s bathroom furniture not only adds function and practicality to the space available, but also adds style and personality.
Our designer will be responsible for designing and creating different types of vanities and storage units from a basic concept or idea. Our designer will be involved in selecting colors, the woods, metals, or laminates used to create STRASSER furniture pieces. These creatives can produce designs for enhancing customer life styles, yet are functional.
Designer Basic Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and Improve Designs
research and plan a variety of bathroom furniture design styles. Collaborate with Marketing and Sales discussing designs for clarity and refinements. They may also have to improve upon furniture designs that are already being manufactured with the use of computer-aided design and hard prototypes.
Choose Materials
Selecting suitable materials primarily woods (natural or engineered), laminates, and metals that are optimal for a particular design.
Evaluate Issues
Our designer must consider all kinds of issues, such as industry trends, purchasing, manufacturing techniques, and organizing schedules based on availability of project resources.
Follow Design Trends
Attend industry-related trainings – such as webinars, seminars, and workshops – will be essential to staying up to date.
Consult with Team Members
Throughout the entire process above, our designer will positively interact and consult with different departments including production, purchasing, sales and marketing.
Requirements:
- Experience with SolidWorks and/or Rhino – preferably both.
- Experience in interior design with knowledge of furniture/cabinet design
