Newly Certified Designers Leveled- Up
NKBA offered an opportunity to all certified members to achieve the next level of certification. They called this the Level-up Promo. Where currently certified members could apply, and sit- for the exam at no charge and with an extended time period. As a big change is underway with certification this was an enticing offer to encourage members to further their certification status. Those who leveled up applied as AKBD, CKD, or CBD with the goal of either Certified Kitchen & Bath Designer, CKBD or Certified Master Kitchen & Bath Designer, CMKBD.
Your Puget Sound Chapter assembled a Study Group to support it's certifiedmembers in acheiving this next step. Led by Paula Kennedy, CMKBD and Hannah Tiffany, CKBD this meet-up was designed to prepare designers for the drawing portion of the exam. Thank you so much to these leaders who coached their peers.
Applicants had to complete and pass a multiple-choice exam to test knowledge of design, construction, and NKBA guidelines. And, a drawing exam to test for adherence to guidelines, ability to meet client needs, and presentation standards. They were given two 'clients' with various needs & wants, and an existing floorplan that had to be modified in such a way that meets client needs, and the NKBA planning guidelines. Submittals included a remodel floor plan, construction plan, mechanical plan, and one elevation for both the kitchen client, and the bath client. All drawings had to meet NKBA presentation standards.
